Our best-in-sector To BE Me program supports preschool / kindergarten children with learning tailored to their age, interests and stage of development. We recognise that at each stage of your child’s early life, they have different needs and display quite distinctive behaviours.

Our leading Flying Start to School preschool/ kindergarten program marks the final two stages of To BE Me. This 2-year program meets the National Quality Standard and aligns with the National Quality Framework.

The age stages are:

  • Becoming Me, developed for 3-4-year-olds, is based on discovery, independence and communication. This age group has thoughts, theories and opinions about the world which they want to share with others. They are curious and brave and want to try things for themselves, work out solutions and be heard by those around them. We encourage each child to develop confidence and independence in a safe, supportive environment where it is okay to make mistakes and try again.
  • Being Me is designed for the next stage of Kindergarten / Preschool where 4-5-year-olds are developing a strong sense of identity and bravery and becoming a valued part of their community. At this age they think deeply about more complicated ideas, including caring, fairness and justice.

To BE Me groups your child’s learning into seven areas to help you see their progress clearly. Each of these areas has behaviours or skills that are generally linked to each age and stage. Learn more about our 7 areas of Learning by clicking here

Degree-Qualified Teachers:

Our 2-year Flying Start to School preschool / kindergarten program at Guardian is led by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers who work closely with families to best support every child’s learning journey.

  • Supporting confident, connected learners:
Our Teachers bring deep expertise in early childhood development, supporting each child to feel capable, curious and ready for school.
  • Experts in relationship building:
Children are supported to feel included, build strong friendships, work well in groups, and grow confidence, independence and leadership skills.
  • Strong connections with local schools:
Long-term links with nearby primary schools help ensure your child’s move to big school is smooth, confident and well-supported.
  • Focused on school readiness that matters:
By understanding what children need to thrive – from early literacy, writing and numeracy to curiosity and problem-solving – our Teachers guide and challenge each child in ways that make learning fun and meaningful.

Dedicated Educators:

Experienced educators in our preschool / kindergarten rooms create a warm, engaging environment where children feel excited to learn. Your child will see the same familiar faces each day, helping them build strong, trusting relationships. Educators get to know each child’s interests, learning style and growing independence, supporting everything from social skills and emotional wellbeing to early literacy and numeracy.

We keep you fully connected to your child’s learning and development, every day.

Family communication app
The Storypark platform brings you into your child’s learning space with photos, videos and updates throughout the day, so you can celebrate achievements and feel connected to their learning journey.

Learning Exchange Displays
In each room show the educational programs our Teachers create to support your child’s growth. These displays make it easy to see what your child is learning, how they’re developing, and the experiences that inspire their curiosity and confidence.

Our preschool / kindergarten rooms are designed to spark curiosity and discovery.

  • Spaces that inspire learning:
Every area is intentionally set up to encourage exploration and problem-solving. Children can enjoy imaginative play, get hands-on with creative projects, build, experiment and follow their interests throughout the day.
  • Warm, welcoming environments:
Natural materials, soft lighting and thoughtfully chosen furnishings create calm, comfortable spaces where children can focus on what they love to do.
  • Age-appropriate resources that challenge and excite:
Our permanent learning areas are filled with high-quality materials that support children’s thinking — from construction and art to early literacy, numeracy and science.
  • Adventurous Outdoor Learning:
Our outdoor spaces offer room to run, climb, dig, plant and explore. Sandpits, gardens and climbing equipment support children to build physical skills, take safe risks and enjoy connecting with nature as part of their learning.

Our preschool and kindergarten children enjoy learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, build new skills and support a strong start to school. These leading programs are part of their everyday learning and led by our Teachers and Educators.

  • I Am Ready for School:
Over the summer period, children leaving for school participate in four weeks of engaging experiences that build confidence, independence and school readiness, preparing them for a smooth transition into big school.
  • Local Schools Program:
Visits to nearby school and interactions with school Teachers support children to understand the practical realities of starting school, become more familiar with what to expect, and feel ready for the next step.
  • ELLA Community Language Learning:
Children explore language through the award-winning ELLA program, using child-friendly technology to build cultural awareness and early language skills.
  • Joy of Reading:
Our literacy approach nurtures a genuine love of books, storytelling and a lifelong love of reading.
  • Sustainability:
From recycling and gardening to caring for our centre environments, children learn how to look after their world and make responsible choices.
  • Cooking & Nutrition:
Hands-on food experiences support children to learn about healthy eating, where food comes from.
  • Sports Programs:
Movement, sports and physical play sessions support children to build strength, coordination and teamwork.
  • Out & About Excursions:
Local walks and community excursions give children hands-on learning experiences and help them build a stronger sense of connection to the people and places around them.
  • Inclusion Support:
Our teams ensure children who may need extra support can fully participate in our learning programs. We work closely with families and specialists to create individualised strategies that support each child.

Our leading Nutrition for Life program sets the standard for early childhood nutrition. We want to give families peace of mind, knowing their children are developing habits that can set them up for a future of exposure to different foods, good eating patterns and healthy eating.

  • Tasty, Nutritious Meals That Fuel Learning:
Children enjoy fresh, seasonal meals and snacks designed to support energy and healthy growth – all prepared onsite by our Centre Chefs and Cooks.
  • Encouraging Independence:
Educators support children to serve themselves, try new food, and practise mealtime routines that build their confidence and self-help skills.
  • Learning Through Food:
Each mealtime becomes a learning opportunity in our centres – from conversations about where food comes from, to diverse cultures, to exploring different colours, textures and flavours.
  • Supporting Individual Needs:
We always work closely with families to understand allergies, dietary requirements and cultural food preferences, ensuring every child feels included and safe at every meal.
  • Developing Positive Food Habits
Children learn to understand the importance of balanced choices, and develop respectful, social mealtime behaviours that set them up for the school years ahead.
